5 September 2016, this date is very especially for the youth of India. Because at this day Reliance Jio launched it service commercially for all over the country. Jio’s services were implemented step by step in the market. First Jio launched its series of 4G Smart-phones with Jio sim which was offering high speed (4G!) unlimited data access for free. In the next step, Jio picked up single sim 4G Smartphones. When it was my turn, a guy who is using dual Sim 4G Smartphone. At the end of 2016, Jio mostly covered 4G Smart-phones of every brand. With launch Jio’s portable Wi-Fi hotspot, now its services were further extended for every Smartphone users. With its summer surprise offer, Jio has changed the face of entire Indian telecommunication sector. Every telecommunication company reduced their price drastically just to balance the competition. For users, it is the golden period!
THE NEXT STEP:
Around 125 million people are already using Jio telecom services. But Jio is aiming high. On 21 July 2017, Mukesh Ambani took off the curtains from the long rumored 4G feature phone. The handset is introduced as ‘India ka Smartphone’. The phone will be available at the price of ₹0. Although buyers will need to pay refundable ₹1500. According to the analyst, Jio is aiming to grab about 100 million people to its network through this 4G enable featured phone.This phone will be a single sim feature phone which will work only on 4G network. The company is going to start beta trial on 15 August. Customers need to wait until the September to buy this phone. However, both online and offline booking will start from 24Th August. Jio Mobile Phone will be a sim locked one. Reliance hasn’t planned to release a dual Sim phone in this category yet.

Jio Phone specification
The phone will have specifications of a standard feature phone. It will support voice command and 22 Indian languages. The phone will come with web-browser and numbers of apps installed by Jio. The phone will also have NFC which supports tap and pay facility from linked bank account, like Samsung pay. The company has confirmed that the phone will have a 2.4-inch display, FM radio, expandable storage and a panic button too. It has 512mb RAM with 4 GB internal storage. Jio phone will come with 2 megapixel rear and a VGA front camera. Jio 4G Mobile phone only works with 4G VOLTE, that means only Jio’s Sim card will work on the phone. The tele-giants IDEA, Vodafone, and Airtel are left out in cold. Airtel has announced to release its VOLTE service shortly to stand in competition with jio.Users need to pay ₹153 per month to get free voice and messages and unlimited high-speed data (500MB/ day). Users can also choose to pay ₹309 per month to get all of this plus mirroring the mobile screen to TV by using accessory cable. After three years, users can return the phone if they want and they will get a full refund for it. The phone doesn’t support Whatsapp at this time but it does have Facebook and PM Modi’s Mann ki Baat broadcast.
In his speech, Mukesh Ambani said,
“There are around 78 crore mobile phones users in India. Among which more than 50 crores are feature phone users who can pay for neither for expensive Smart-phones nor for the expensive data.He further added,
“Data is oxygen of digital life. No Indian should suffer due to unaffordability. The vast majority still don’t have access to it. Jio is going to end this unfairness”.
Summary:
Jio 4G Mobile phone is 4G supported feature phone which supports only company’s Sim card on it. It will be commercially available in September but the beta trial will be out on 15th August. Consumers will be able to book it online and offline from 24th August. The phone can be bought at the price of ₹0, but users need to pay an upfront refundable price of ₹1500.
